Frequently Asked Questions
-
I primarily work with adult men throughout California who are dealing with burnout, stress, anger, relationship strain, anxiety, loneliness, life transitions, and questions about identity or purpose. A lot of the men I work with look capable on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, shut down, disconnected, or stuck.
-
Some men come in because they are burned out and running on fumes. Others are dealing with anger, numbness, anxiety, relationship problems, people-pleasing, stress at work, or a growing sense that something feels off in their life. Some are in a midlife transition and realizing the way they have been living is no longer working.
-
Therapy with me is conversational, engaged, and honest. I am not the kind of therapist who just nods the whole time, but I am also not here to lecture you. I try to create a space where you can slow down, understand what is happening underneath the surface, and start responding differently instead of just repeating the same patterns.
I tend to be kind, direct, grounded, and practical. At times I may challenge you, especially when you say you want something to change but keep moving in the opposite direction. The goal is not to shame you. The goal is to help you become more aware, more honest with yourself, and more capable of change.
-
Not in the simple “here is what you should do” sense. Therapy is usually more helpful when we understand the deeper pattern instead of just trying to slap a quick fix on top of it. I will help you think clearly, notice what is driving your reactions, and experiment with new ways of responding. At times I may offer observations, challenges, or practical tools, but the work is collaborative.
-
My approach is shaped by relational and psychodynamic therapy, CBT, somatic work, attachment-based work, and parts-oriented ideas including IFS. I also draw from Trauma Resiliency Model–informed skills. In plain language, that means we may look at patterns in your relationships, the beliefs and protections that keep showing up, and what is happening in your nervous system in real time.
-
Is therapy only talking about feelings?
No. Talking matters, but insight alone is often not enough. Therapy can also include noticing body cues, slowing down reactions, understanding triggers, learning to set limits, practicing how to ask for what you need, and building more capacity to stay present under pressure.
-
Most clients start with weekly sessions. Weekly therapy creates momentum and helps us get a clearer picture of what is happening. In some cases, we may adjust frequency over time depending on your goals and needs.

My fee is $225 per 50-minute session.
