My Journey to Better Health
As a young man in my 20’s, I was drawn to look inside after having my own therapist who “got” me in a way I never felt before. On paper, I was a happy go lucky guy, high achieving and full of bravado. Down in the fine print however, I was a nervous wreck. I felt unsure of myself, unexceptional and powerless. Anxious to be found out as a fraud, especially by other men.
My therapist planted the seeds of self kindness. Seeds that I’m still watering. I learned that I don’t need to be perfect to be loved. Perfectionism kept me from trying; feeling “good enough” allowed me to be seen. I learned that people want to know me, my voice, what I stand for. And I started to allow them.
In addition to learning from a holistic place, my therapist taught me practical skills. How to set boundaries. How to say “no.” How to ask for what I need, even if it comes out messy. Most importantly, I learned what my strengths were and I doubled down on them. And eventually I started feeling good enough.
As a fellow dude, I'm here to model self kindness, and also to teach you skills maybe you never learned. Boundaries, stepping into your voice, saying sorry :) You have all the resources inside--perhaps you need someone to help you unlock them. I won't posture as the expert on your life and pretend to have the answers, but I won't keep you wandering around in the dark.
I believe that we all have the resources within us to heal, and yet sometimes we need a little help. Let me help you identify and amplify your strengths.
